Gustav "Gust" Emanuel Johnson was born in Sweden under the name of Gustav Emanuel Johansson. He changed his surname when he moved from Sweden to Kent, King County, Washington, USA.

Albin John Swenson is the son of Bror Theodor Svensson (a/k/a - Bror Theodore Swenson).

The photo was taken in Braham, Isanti County, Minnesota. Gustav Emanuel Johnson was in the Midwest from May 1902 to some time in 1904 or 1905 when he moved to Washington State.
