Additional Information: 

By May 14, 1945, Eric Alfred Pearson was recovering in a US Navy hospital from scarlet fever that left him with a trace of acute rheumatic fever. This shortly after resulted in him being medically discharged with having a small heart murmur. A letter from his mother to one of his brothers mentions his recovery, and it can be viewed by clicking here.
