Cletus J. Eck, 72, of Pana died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 1988, in his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kennedy and Sons Funeral Home, Pana, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana Township.

Mr. Eck was born in Oconce, son of John and Mary Eck. He was a retired farmer and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Farm Bureau. He married Catherine Werner in 1945. She died in 1970. He married Rose L. Zahradka Shallenbarger in 1976.

Surviving are his wife; son Jim of Oconee; daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Joann) Miller of Pana; and Mrs. Larry (Norma) Swanson of Washington; stepson, Richard Shallenbarger of Woodstock; stepdaughters, Mrs. Bill (Doris) Boin of Belvidere; and Mrs. Edward (Betty) Carroll of Woodstock; sisters, Loreita Diss of Tower Hill; and Mildred Swim of Decatur; stepbrothers, Harold and Paul Lehn, both of Pana; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded him in death.
