Title: Mrs. Lucy E. Westover

Mrs. Lucy Emogene Westover was born in St. Francois County, Mo., on October 10th 1860, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Gosney, on July 5th, 1919, age 58 years, 8 months, 25 days. She was a daughter of William and Lucinda Shaner, pioners of this county, and has lived here practically all of her life. She was married to Ewing Westover about the year of 1879 and leaves to mourn her departure, her mother, Lucinda Shaner, two sisters, one brother, three sons and two daughters. The sons, Grover Westover, Desloge, Mo; Marvin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Harry, Sargt. U.S. Army of Ft. DesMoines, Iowa. The daughters are Mrs. W. W. Kyukendoll, of Sturges, Ky., and Mrs. John Gosney, Desloge.

She professed faith in Christ as her Savior at about the age of 12 years and joined the Old Randolph Mrthodist church in this county, her membership being transferred to Desloge when she went there to her home.

Mrs. Westover was a great sufferer for a number of years, yet one would not have suspected it, so cheerful was she at all times; indeed it became a source of remark among her friends, the patience with which she bore her cross of suffering. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. D. R. Davis, local pastor. Interment was made in the Parkview cemetery near Farmington. The entire community joins The News in its deepest sympathy to the bereaved loved ones.
