John C. Eck, 59, of RR2, Tower Hill, died at 5:02 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, 1984 in St. Vincent Memoral Hopital, Taylorville.

Mr. Eck was born May 19, 1924 in Oconee, a son of Martin L. and Mary Eva Cutler Eck. He married Jean Stilabower on Aug. 19, 1972. He was a retired chief engineer for Illinois Roses Limited, Pana; US Army veteran and member of Immaculate Conception Church, Shelbyville, and Knights of Columbus and Travelers Protective Association, both of Pana.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Terry of Pana and Joe of Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter Mrs. Barbara Oreskovitch of Oconee; stepdaughters, Sheldia Nussbaum of Cheyenne, Wyo., Christine Clagg of Shelbyville and Amy Newtson of Springfield; sisters, Grace Holthaus of Florissant, Mo., Pauline Bond of Springfield and Mary Lambert of Princeton, Ky.; three grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and one great-stepgrandchild; and an aunt, Nora Cutler, of Pontiac.

One sister preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends at McCracken Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Rev. Fr. B. H. LaBonte will have the rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
