"Transcript of the above obituary"

Mrs. John J. Kollmeyer

Many of our good old men and women are passing away these spring days. One of the finest of our old citizens left us on Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 1948, about 3:30 o'clock when Mrs. John J. Kollmeyer went to her eternal rest.

Elizabeth Best, daughter of Carl and Marie (Rauch) Best, was born December 27, 1861, on the old Best home place, three miles east of Farmington, where she spent her childhood days. In 1876 she became a communicant member of the Lutheran Church in Pilot Knob by confirmation and has always been one of the most faithful members of the Lutheran Church. On Nov. 2, 1882, she was married to John J. Kollmeyer, with whom she spent a long and happy married life on the farm known as the old Kollmeyer farm, rearing a family of nine children, all of whom are living and all of whom are living in and around Farmington. They are Katie (Mrs. Adam) Meyer, Tillie (Mr. Henry) Rickus, Mayme (Mrs. B. L.) Griffin, Henry, Alma (Mrs. Jesse E.) Simms, Anna (Mrs. Chesley) Yeargain, Fred, Frank C. and Raymond. There are also 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Her beloved husband passed away on Jan. 1, 1930, in their home at 601 S. Jefferson, to which they had moved in 1927. Here Mrs. Kollmeyer continued to make her home until January of this year when failing health induced her to go to the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. L. Griffin, where she received the most loving care possible. Here she closed her eyes on April 7th.

Mrs. Kollmeyer is also survived her brother F. H. Best, of Farmington Route Three, and a sister Miss Mary Best, of Farmington. Her brother, Henry Best and sister, Mrs. M. B. Gierse passed away some years ago.

Her funeral will be held on Saterday afternoon from the Lutheran Church, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. E. C. Pardieck, at 2:30 o'clock. She will rest in the Lutheran Cemetery. Cozean Funeral home is in charge and the body will lie in state there until 2:00 o'clock Saturday.
