UNCLE NICK WHITE DIES

Esther people were shocked and grieved when they learned Sunday morning of the passing of Uncle Nick White, as he was familiarly called by his friends. He was ill only two days of cirrhosis of the liver. He was a pioneer citizen and business man of Esther, being in the coal business for a number of years. W. N. White, son of the late James and Mariah White of Fredericktown, was born 2 Dec 1857, and died at his home in Esther on 6 Apr 1930. He was united in marriage on 15 Aug 1877 to Miss Vina Berry, who preceeded him in death. There was one child born of this union, Lillie (Mrs J E Rolens) of Elvins, MO. He was again united in marriage to Miss Alice Jane Rolens who survives him. To this union were born six children, one, Ida Olive preceeded him in death. The five surviving children are: Stella, at home, Ollie (Mrs James Hardy), Mayme (Mrs James Richardson) Mrs Maude Wolfe, and Bert of Gofftown. He also leaves five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Mary Combs of Fredericktown, and Mrs John Martin of Libertyville, one brother, Gideon T. White of Cornwall. He was converted about 20 years ago and united with the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Esther Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm , by Rev John Maynard, assisted by Rev Stewaret & Rev Haskins. Internement was in the Parkview Cemetery. Many friends extend to the family their heartfelt sympathy."
