The Familytree Heritage Library provides our family members with the means to share and exchange family genealogy information, including family records, documents and photographs.

Many of us within our families are worried there's a ton of information (familytrees, photos, letters, books, etc.) that will end up lost forever. For myself, I know when one of my grandmothers died most of the family photos ended up getting thrown out because everyone looking at them didn't know who the people were. My branch of the family had lost context through these people in past generations. This overwhelming fact has compelled me in realizing we're all personally responsible in preserving our families heritage for future generations.

Therefore, I urge you to get those photos and documents copied, scanned or digitized. Then send them to me in behalf of all our relatives. Let's use the internet to our advantage in having a central place for preserving our family treasures from years gone by.

My email address is: geofiles@aol.com, and my phone number is: (615) 883-8670. Also, you can send me mail at: The Pearson Family, 237 Cumberland Circle, Nashville, TN 37214.

Thank you, and please enjoy our family website,

Leah M. Pearson

"How Many Relatives ? "

My father and I have located over 24,000 of our relatives. If you include the family of my husband with the husband of my sister, then we have over 42,000 relatives. You might think this to be a large amount, but think of it this way. Starting with yourself, go back eight generations and you have one hundred and twenty-eight 5th great-grandparents. That is, sixty-four 5th great-grandfathers and sixty-four 5th great-grandmothers. Now say on average each following generation had three children. This would give you 139,968 relatives, and this doesn't include all the spouses and their families. More importantly, three children per generation is a very conservative number, especially since many earlier generations had an average of five or more children that survived into adulthood.

This brings me back to saying, please help with preserving our family genealogy. It's really simple, just contribute some bit of information about your branch of the family. Moreover, this can include obituaries, documents, letters, books, photographs and etc. Thank you!
